Although Brian Barnhart has his defenders – and at least one of them has posted a comment on this blog in which he quoted at length from the pre-race drivers’ meeting at Sunday’s Honda Indy Edmonton showing that the IndyCar chief steward had specifically warned against anyone doing what Helio Castroneves was black-flagged for doing late in the race – there are gazillions of people out there who still think he should have his head read. It’s always been a mystery to me why more people don’t get to a race track early so they can listen to the circus come to life. All the drivers in today’s major races – the Firestone Indy Lights and the IZOD IndyCar Series Honda Indy Toronto – went out for warmup sessions this morning. Will Power has won the Honda Indy, with Dario Franchittti second and Ryan Hunter-Reay third. Two women finished in the top ten: Danica Patrick sixth and Simona de Silvestro ninth. Paul Tracy finished a lap down in 13th place. Alex Tagliani was 17th. Justin Wilson is battling back as the action gets hairy as the checkers close in on the Honda Indy.
